PTAH MYERS

Head Coach, Philadelphia University

Philadelphia University Athletic Director Tom Shirley has announced the hiring of Ptah Myers as the men's soccer program's 12th head coach.  Myers is the Ram's first-ever African American coach.

"I'm proud to announce the hiring of current Philadelphia KiXX player Ptah Myers as our men's soccer head coach.  With his professional playing background and experience in the Big East and Atlantic 10, we feel he's ready to take our team to the next level," said Shirley.

Myers is a current member of the Philadelphia KiXX, a professional team in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).  He was named the Wachovia ‘Player of the Year' during the 2008-09 season.  His professional experience also includes  playing for the Virginia Beach Mariners of the United Soccer League (USL) 1st Division in 2005. 

"I'm ready to put my stamp on this program and begin my head coaching career," said Myers. 

The Columbus, Ohio native comes to PhilaU with a wealth of NCAA Division I experience, serving as an assistant coach at Villanova University under Wildcats Head Coach Tom Carlin during the 2009 season and as a player at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. 

A UMass graduate (2005) with a B.A. in psychology, Myers helped the Minutemen advance to the NCAA 2nd Round as a sophomore and was also an Atlantic 10 1st Team selection twice during his junior and senior years.  As a senior he led his squad with 21 points (nine goals, three assists).   

He is also a current member of the U.S. Men's National Futsal Team and the Director of the Futsal Development Program in the Philadelphia School District.  Futsal is a variant of soccer that is played indoors on a smaller hard playing surface with a sized down ball.

Myers- who has a USSF B coaching license, has served as the KiXX Summer Camp Director since 2006.  He has also been an assistant coach at Abington Friends School ('08) and Amherst (MA) High School ('04) and worked with both the Washing Twp. (NJ) and Marple Newtown (PA) Soccer Clubs.
