In his second season as steward of the men's soccer program, Tom Carlin has begun to lay the foundation for an exciting future at Villanova. Over the course of his time on the job, Carlin has worked diligently to enhance the total program. The Wildcats have landed a pair of decorated recruiting classes since his promotion from the assistant coaching spot he held in 2007 and reached the BIG EAST Tournament in his first season at the helm. What's more, there has been an active outreach to the program's alumni base, the development of a new web site (vusoccer.com), and a continued emphasis on dedication to the community. more . . .

In the spring of 2009 BJ Callaghan was promoted to the role of top assistant to head coach Tom Carlin.
"BJ has done a tremendous job since he joined our staff last year," stated Carlin in making the announcement. "We are very pleased to be able to promote him to the lead assistant position. Steve Sawyer joined the Villanova men's soccer staff in March 2011 after two years as the assistant at Connecticut College.
"Steve is a great addition to our staff," stated head coach Tom Carlin. "He certainly brings a wealth of knowledge about the game as he learned from one of the best while playing under Head Coach Mike Noonan at Brown University. Joe Taylor returns to Villanova after a one year stint with the Eastern University staff and four very successful seasons as a player at Villanova University. Three times, Coach Taylor earned recognition on the Philadelphia Soccer 7 All Star team and he also earned Soccer 7 Rookie of the Year honors in 2005. A two-time captain at Villanova, Taylor also earned recognition as the Wildcats' offensive MVP in 2008...more

Jim Curtin joined Chivas USA in a trade with the Chicago Fire in January 2008, and the big defender played 18 games (15 starts) for the Red-and-White. Curtin was fan favorite for the Fire, he was an important part of the team's defense for seven seasons after he was selected with the 29th pick of the 2001 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. more . . .
